A while back (09/16/04)there was a post by member gulhaugen asking the following:

1. The ability to suggest column names(either field_1,field_2 etc, or the string in the first row of each column).
2. The ability to generate the create table script based on the mapping defined.

Marco, you mentioned that you would add it to the list of enhancements. Is this still a work in progress?
I am currently using PL/SQL version 7
Thanks...

This has been added in 7.0.1. You can create a table based on the import definition by pressing the "Create table" button.

argh, just when i need something...

I am trying to import some csv files from Excel and even though I can edit the file and see the contents Text Importer shows only emptiness. It reports the right number of columns, but no data is displayed on the Textfile tab and on the Data tab the Import buttons are not active.

This time, the file is available, just give me an email address

something else,

i opened the .csv in Excel and Text Importer can't read the data. The status bar says it is loaded and has 0kb, the configuration section shows that it knows about the 8 flds, the results preview shows 8 columns, but nothing in the file data area. If I close Excel and try again the file loads properly.

I'd like an option to limit field searches to physical lines, I seem to be having a problem where Excel didn't put enough commas on blank lines and when TI loads it seems to be readind subsequent lines until it finds enough fields.
