Query completed notification (request)

You know what'd be hot? If PL/SQL dev would play a little wav file announcing that a query had completed. I'm thinking a nice soothing British woman.... The default would be to not play it, but there could be a toolbar button or something that you could turn on whilst a long query was running, so you could go do something else and not have to keep looking back to see if it was done.

I usually have speaker sound off, but it would be nice if the PL/SQL Dev icon in the taskbar could start flashing if a query is finished while the focus is not in PL/SQL Dev. That saves me a lot of 'alt-tabbing to and fro'

I just think that hearing Daffney from Fraiser telling my query was done might just make the day a little more bearable. (or Sean Connery for the so-inclined ;) ).

Actually, this has been a request before. I've asked for it. I think the "problem" was defining what a "long" query was. I think the idea was to have a configuration setting for a long query like "5 minutes"...play sound [].

Gotcha, that's why I was thinking of a toggle that a user could click, effectively making YOU decide during runtime if you wanted notification. The execution time would be irrelevant.

you would have to be able to set the voice for each window.. or database type.

british for production, american for test...
