paste data in table with existing records

I often use the possibility to paste data (e.g. from excel) into a table. I use edit to query the table, scroll to the bottom and paste, post en commit the data.

Some tables have lots of records. In those cases I cancel the query, but then you have to unlock the table manually.

Is there a simple way to open a table for editing/pasting without querying all the existing records?
