v10 New Instance hides behind existing.

In v10 when i have an instance of PSD opened, and i start a new instance, the new window hides behind the instance which is already opened.

In v9, the window is starting in front of the existing instance. Is there an option to change this behaviour. If not, can you fix this please?

I cannot reproduce this. How exactly do you start PL/SQL Developer? Through the standard installed shortcut, a custom launcher, by double-clicking on a file, or otherwise?

Oh, i could only reproduce this behaviour, if i have an SQL Window open, which have the focus. If its an empty PSD or in another program, the new instance starts in front.

I have a shortcut in my Taskbar, with this properties.
"C:\Program Files\PLSQL Developer10\plsqldev.exe" NoConnectionList

When i click on it, the Login Window PopsUp, then I choose the connection and my new Instance hides behind the existing.

I still have no luck reproducing this. Can you add the NoPlugIns parameter to verify if a Plug-In is causing this?

I' using no PlugIns, but i tried this parameter without success.

I'm running PSD on Windows 7 32 bit, and my colleague Windows 7 64 bit with the same behaviour.

At the Moment i'm trying to describe the way how to reproduce this. I found out, when i'm typing in this forum and starting PSD, i have the same Problem. The PSD instance hides behind my browser when i entered the password.
When i try this with v9, i can't reproduce this, so i'm sure this is not a OS settings Problem.

Additional info: we are both using two monitores, maybe this causes the problem.

Several of us at our office are experiencing the same thing. I have the PL/SQL Developer executable pinned to the task bar (Windows 7) and I can consistently reproduce this by right-clicking on the icon in the task bar and selecting 'PLSQL Developer'.

This also happens (occasionally) when you press the 'Execute' button and the SQL query contains substitution values (i.e. &). The "Variables" pop-up window hides behind the main window, and you can't do anything to get it out front, and must kill the process from the task manager.

An additional note. The created window has focus, it is just created behind all other windows currently on the screen.

Any update on this? I have the same issue and very annoying. It cropped up after I upgraded to PSD 10. I have 2 monitors, and am running Win 7. If I have any window open and start PSD, it open behind the windows I already had open (no matter which program), but has focus. In order to bring to the top, I have to click on PSD in the taskbar twice (once to hide, once to bring to top). It does this anytime I open PSD if I have any other window open first.

I discovered that after I enter my login information, if I click on an open PSD window while the new connection is connecting, the new window will open in the foreground.

The hard drive on my workstation recently died, so I had to get a new drive, reinstall Windows and everything else.....

...and the problem has gone away - mostly. When I start up a new instance of PL/SQL Developer, it does show up in the foreground (hooray!). However, I have had one occurrence where the "Variables" pop-up did not show in the foreground. Hopefully that was an aberration.

So, it appears that Windows 7 might be partially (or wholly) to blame.

Just a note. I recently stumbled across a Microsoft tool called "Process Explorer" which allows you to find a "hidden" window and maximize it, which brings it up to the front. Process Explorer is taskmgr on steroids -- and it has a option in it to replace taskmgr (i.e. when you run taskmgr, Process Explorer comes up instead).

Same issue in my company.
I solved it by changing the Compatibility-Settings on the PSD-Icon to 'Windows XP (Service Pack 3)'.
