Updates & News not updating?

This was happening with v9 and still after downloading & installing v10.

When I check for updates or news, it's showing old data. In the preferences, it says news last updated 3/12/2012. This doesn't change, even if I hit the 'Check Now' button?

Very strange.. We run a transparent squid proxy server. The logs showed that PLSQL Developer wasn't even requesting the news/updates .

I changed PLSQL Dev settings to explicitly use the proxy and it worked. Removed the proxy settings and it still works.

We've got 7 installs of it here - 4 are checking updates okay, the other 3 had this issue.

I also have this problem?!? Latest news goes back to "7/12/2012 Beta available"

Latest version is 9.0.6.1665...

I have the same problem. I do not believe that it is a proxy problem, as I have had my computer connected to many different networks, both at work and at home.

I have installed version 10 'on top' of version 9. Could this be a part of the cause for the problem?

Maybe someone can try to completely un-install PLD and re-install version 10 to see if that helps?

Update:
I have now completely un-installed and re-installed PLD version 10.

In short, it did not solve anything. The latest version is still shown as 9.0.6.1665

What can I do from here?

Does Windows 7 have a local proxy that I can clear?

The performed steps to un-install and re-install PLD are listed below:

I selected the Uninstall option under PL/SQL developer in the start menu. I was asked, if I wanted to remove PL/SQL developer and I answered Yes. The un-install took like a couple of seconds.
Hmm, suspiciously fast ...

The PL/SQL Developer start menu entry was still there with the remaining entries Help, New Features, OFS Manager, Uninstall.
I would expect it to be all gone. I have deleted it manually.

Also the PLD directory under Program files was still there, but only the preferences directory was left. I deleted the entire directory.

Using regedit, I deleted all remaining PLD entries, by searching for the string "plsql":

HKEY_CLASSS_ROOT -> DefaultIcon
Data: C:\Program Files\PLSQL Developer\PLSQLDev.exe,1

HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Allround Automations -> PL/SQL Developer

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Wow6432Node -> Microsoft -> Tracing -> plsqldev_RASAPI32/plsqldev_RASMANCS

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Classes -> Wow6432Node -> CLSID -> {0D8A....}
Name: LocalizedString,
Data: @C:\Program Files\PLSQL Developer\aapf.dll,-101

Then I deleted the directory C:\Users\...\AppData\Roaming\PLSQL Developer

I then re-installed plsqldev1002.exe (I changed the default installation path C:\Program Files (x86)\PLSQL Developer into C:\Program Files\PLSQL Developer).
I did not install any plugins.
I was asked: The license of the installed version does not cover the version you are installing now
Continue anyway?
I answered Yes.

I started PLD, entered my registration code and selected Show updates.
As written before, the latest version is still 9.0.6.1665.

In preferences, the latest updates and the latest news have dates in 2012.

I tested with Version 7.0.3.1123.
PSD seems to use system proxy settings (the one set eg. from Control Panel or Internet Explorer). But it fails to use authentication: it closes the connection when gets HTTP 407 from our proxy server.

I check with another proxy. Now, PSD gets the below answer, but it fails to use it (displayed version is still 9.0.6.1665):

I had this issue too - when it showed v9.xxx, if I selected download it would actually get the correct file though?! Had this just yesterday on a new install.
Hope it helps with your problem.

I have downloaded and installed versions 10.0.2.1698, 10.0.2.1699, and 10.0.2.1700 and now it seems to be working. I get the info that latest version is 10.0.2.1697 and latest update date is April 5, 2013.

Marco, has something been changed regarding this in the patches?

To confirm, I'm still seeing this problem. Something within PL/SQL Dev appears to be caching results, even when 'check now' is used.

But Marco that page lists two versions =- 10.0.0 and 10.0.2 .
I'm running 10.0.2.1697 which isn't listed on the page.

Again, how can I check if there are any updates available?

I don't see 10.0.0 available for download there, only 10.0.2, which is the latest version.

The 10.0.2 version is the one you have. The build number is not significant.

The update has indeed not yet been published through the on-line update system. This will be done shortly.
