In order to optimize start-up time and project flexibility I start PL/SQL Developer (PSD) with an empty project and the nologon command-line parameter. When I then connect to a database using double-click on connection defined in the Connection List, I don't get all the "Tools" Menu items that I should then. All the ones in the bottom keep on being greyed out ranging from "Find Database Objects..." to "Data Generator". So PSD still behaves here as if still no connection exists. I found a workaround to remind PSD that I am now connected is to switch off and an the Connection List via "Tools" - "Connections". This really shouldn't be necessary though and needs to be fixed.
