Still have problem with message box at login

Hello,

As the Beta forum is closed I copy a post I have made when testing 7.1. Beta 8.

RC1 version still had the problem I described below as well as the new 7.1 production version (evaluation version).

Are you perhaps using the Oracle Instant Client?

As a workaround, you can start PL/SQL Developer without connecting, go to Tools > Preferences > Oracle / Options, and disable the "Check for client and server character set mismatch" option.

I had the same problem and this fixed it. I am using the instant Client. What Oralce clients are compatible with this release?

On a related note, Oracle now offers and "instant client lite" that doesn't have unicode support. Is it possible to use 7.1 with this client?

All of them. We'll fix this bug asap, and you can work around it by disabling the "Check for client & server set mismatch" preference (Tools > Preferences > Oracle / Options).

We haven't looked at this yet, but I don't expect any problems.
