SmartEd and 7.0.2

Call me slow, but I just upgraded to 7.0.2 and immediately noticed an extreme slowdown when starting PLSD - at least 20 minutes and I can't do anything else on the PC during that time. The Harddisk light seems to stay on, sometimes I get the Virtual Memory setting is too low msg, once I was told that my C drive was running out of space and did I want help clearing it. After killing PLSD my disk space is seriously low and then I have a slow system while 'something' is being cleared out.

I renamed the PlugIns directory and the problem went away, so one by one I moved the plugins I have to a new PlugIns directory and the only one that caused PLSD startup to go slow was SmartEd 2.0.

Has anyone else seen this?

p.s. just before upgrading to 7.0.2 I did use highlighting.dll to make a list of tables/views/fields of my app that I wanted custom hilighting on. However, I started PLSD a few times in the day since I did that BEFORE upgrading to 7.0.2

I just installed SmartEd on 7.0.2, but this problem does not occur. I haven't seen any similar problem reports either.

Marco,
Then maybe the problem lies in the highlighting.dll entries that I made. Where does that store the keywords from the queries that I set up?

The highlighting.dll entries are saved in the registry under the PLSD key (look for Plugins/SyntaxHighLighting) in CURRENT_USER/Software.

I have 5 sub-entries numbered 0-4, for a total of 2025 new keywords.

I tried changing all the queries used so that no values where returned, but it still took 20 minutes to start PLSD.

I then saved the queries to a file and deleted them all from highlighting, checked the registry (long longer any entries there) and started PLSD in < 1 minute.

Is the author of SmartEd in the house?
