There is a missing feature in the use of Project and that is the ability to promote a Project from one environment to another, e.g. from a development database to a testing or production database.

That would indeed by nice. Allowing a project to have multiple connections (Dev,QA,UAT,Perf,Prod, etc.), with each connection assigned a different root directory.
Then migration is as "simple" as a dialog allowing you to pick a source connection, and a target connection, tied to a copy routine, followed by a reconnect, and an optional automatic recompile.
