Preference Sets

I installed Version 7.02 today. Now, I get a warning message when I start the program:

You have preferencesets with the same definition,
this might not work correct.

What does this mean and how do fix it? I haven't changed my preference sets and I didn't get this message in 7.01.

Thanks,

Mike

This implies that you have 2 or more preference sets with the same selection criteria (e.g. both for the same database). One of them has to be removed.

Can you confirm that this indeed the case? If not, can you send me the Preferences directory and subdirectories in a zip-file?

I had my personal preference and the default preference. Neither had anything in the connections tab. I deleted the default preference and the message went away.

Thanks,

Mike

I'm having the same problem: "You have preferencesets with the same definition, this might not work". I deleted the "System Default"(?) from both the Personal and Default Preferences and the message went away at first. But then I added a new "Personal" preference (named: PDH, my initials), and I got the error message again. Then I noticed a Personal preference file that had no name, just blank. I deleted that "blank" preference file and I'm now just using my "PDH" preference file, and I am no longer getting the error message.
-- Question --
Do I "need" the "System Default" preference for any reason? Should I reinstall it somehow?
thanks (and thanks for a GREAT product!)

I'm having a related(?) problem: All my preferences have disappeared. Is this due to the recent upgrade? Does every upgrade reset the preferences to the defaults? Is the preference files name "plsqldev.GID" on a Windows workstation?

Thanks

If you install your upgrade in a new, empty directory, they will be default. You will need to install over the old version to get the same preferences back, or copy the Preferences subdirectory (where the preferences are stored).

I'm not sure why you are Laszlo Kerepeszki. If you are not him, you may want to login and logout. If you are still Laszlo Kerepeszki, then you may want to register again. In any case, it seems like a Forum software bug.

Marco, I have this same problem, but I don't understand what exactly in which preference file you mean when you say "2 or more preference sets with the same selection criteria (e.g. both for the same database)"

I have one directory called "Default" under preferences and one called "Cfischer". Each has two files. I haven't run a text compare, but they look very similar.

If you go to Tools > Preferences and click the Preference sets button [..] you get the dialog where you can check this. If you find two preference sets with an identical

I have the same problem, where my preferences suddenly disappeared. I don't understand what I'm supposed to delete. Here's what my preferences folder looks like:

Code:
preferences
   default
      default.ini
      default.old
   lieberlady
      default.ini
      user.prefs
   preferences.txt
TIA

Can you let me know your exact PL/SQL Developer version? Can you also zip-up the preferences directory and subdirectories and send them to me?
