Plugin : Quick/ER v1.1 is released

Hi Poul,

just tested this new version. First: database support is something I really like.

but there are some problems:

- default window size is too large (height)! And please store the last size (I always have to resize it). This is on a screen with 1200x800.

- saving a diagramm to database does not always work:
start with a new diagram, drop a table and save it to database. Then close the diagramm.
Now open a new diagramm and load the previous saved. Add a note and connect it to the table.
Press save button: then nothing is saved! You have to save it with" Save... to database" (I have set database as default storage on preferences).

- can you remove the background "Q" from preferences? It looks very irritating.

- and there seems to something strange: sometimes I cannot select anything on the diagramm. It seems like frozen. And then PLSQL Developer crashed sometimes. Unfortunatly I didn

Hi Poul,

small issue: i explored the tables of user 'quicker': diagramm has a column userid that should be filled with OSUser name. Well, I'm sure that my name is not 'poul' :)

And a question: is it possible to store the diagramms under a different schema? I already have a schema for documentation and would like to store the diagramms there.

greetings,
Uli

Hi Uli,

Thanks for your feedback.
I have a look at the issues.
Especially the one that puts my name on every diagram youre saving!

I'll put the "save to diff. schema name" on the todo for v1.2

Thanks.

Hi Uli,

As promise I have looked at the issues:

default window size + saving : fixed
save to diagram problem : haven

Poul,
I downloaded the latest version and closed PL-SQL Developer. I went through the install options, selecting to install the update.
During the installation it stated it could not install file x, it was in use, even though PL/SQL Dev was not running.
I opened PL/SQL Dev, it showed version 1.1 on the new GUI window. Thought that was kinda funny since it complained about a file in use. I opened one of my previously saved diagrams.
Quick/ER did not remember the layout of the saved file, stacking all the elements on top of each other. I started moving them off of each other and got the blue screen of death(BSOD) and my PC rebooted.
It might be a fluke so after rebooting opened PL/SQL DEv, opened previously saved file from version 1.0, started rearranging the elements and BSOD again plus reboot.
Looks like there is a major problem here.
Running Windows 2000 Pro with latest service pack and updates, Trial version of Quick/ER, PL/SQL Dev at 6.04.xxxx.

Hi delphi74u,

The BSOD was caused by microsoft's antialiasing api, and that's why im using cleartext instead in the 1.1 of Quick/ER.

I'll have a look at this issue with opening v1.0 diagrams on the 1.1

Anyway thanks for your feedback

Hi,

i have noticed that Quick/ER 1.1 interferes with the startup options plugin by clouds.
I have a startup options configured so that the first thing that happens when i connect to a database is a sql window that does a "select * from v$instance" opens and tells me what database and machine i am on.
when i installed Quick/ER 1.1, this stopped happening, when i disabled the plugin, it worked again....
just thought you would like to know.

Hi Richard

That sounds strange, but I'll see if there's anything I can do to correct this!

Thanks for the feedback!

Hi Richard,

I have downloaded and installed the startup plugin, put in the query you talked about, and everything works fine. Maybe you could give me some more details?

Thanks,

Poul
