Need to see Illegal Characters

Is there a way to have 'illegal' characters (low value) displayed as little boxes? Apparently when I select data from a table that has invisible trash characters padding field data other than spaces it isn't displayed as little boxes.

Is there a preference that filters these?
Is this a function of the font selected?
Is there a way to force this behavior?

Unfortunately I'm working with very dirty data and need to view these characters so I can SUBSTR etc to get clean data.

Thanks

The "illegal characters" are not filtered, and you can set the Font preference through Tools > Preferences > Fonts tab page. You can set the grid font so that you can view these characters (if such a font exists).

Hy,

it would be cool, if i can display blanks and tabs as an defined character too.
f.e. in MS Word you have little points for blanks and an arrow for tabs.

Furthermore would it be nice if i can set this feature throug a button in the toolbar on/off. (Like in TOAD).

Thanks in advance

I have added this to the list of enhancement requests.

It is not in the current version. It is on the list of enhancement requests, but not with high priority.

Ok thanks for information.
Hope this very nice feature (in my opinion) is in one of the next versions...
