keyboard shortcuts

Hi,
i have defined a shortcut of CTRL-B to hide the browser. i had a thought that if i can also bind the window list and template browser to CTRL-B, then one keystroke will hide all three docked panels.

you are able to bind all three to CTRL-B ( it is listed against all three actions ), but when you press CTRL-B, only the first action is performed.

can all actions assigned to a keystroke be carried out?

thanks.

One key can only be assigned to one action. If you assign a key, any previous assignment will be cleared.

In that case, should the behaviour when assigning key shortcuts not be changed?

If I try to assign a key which has already been assigned to another action, I get prompted if I want to remove the previous assignment, which it does if I select 'Yes'. However, if I select 'No', the previous assignment remains there, but 'visually' the key combination is assigned to the new action as well.

If it is not possible to have the same key shortcut apply to different actions, I would expect the 'new' assignment to remain blank after selecting 'No'.

Remember that macros can be put on the menu and then it can be assigned a hot key.

I've done this:

1. Assign each window to separate hot keys.
(I have CTL+ALT+B for the browser, CTL+ALT+T for the templates and CTL+ALT+W for the windows list for example)

2. Create a macro that presses all 3 hot keys, put it in the macro library and check the box to put it on the menu.

3. Assign the hot key for the macro in the menu to a key. I did F1, for "tools toggle" and F2 for the Code contents so I get maximum screen by hitting F1 and F2.

yes macros would be ok, but this would be a good way of accomplishing more than one action on one keystroke.

i think that you should be able to assign the same key to more than one action and when typing that key, all actions should be performed.

could hide the templates, window list and browser with one keystroke.

sounds good to me.
