Insertion is very slow

Hi,
I'm new to PL/SQL developer. We have a requirement of inserting thousands of records at a time may be upto 50000. PL/SQL Developer is taking almost 20-30 mins for executing this. But TOAD is taking only 2.5 mins. Suggest the changes in settings required for improvement.

How exactly are you inserting these records? An import function? The Command Window?
