How to manually activate the Code Assistant

How do I make the Code Assistant window pop up while I am typing a query? For example, to propose a list of columns.

It is not popping up automatically. The help says it can be activated manually with a function key, but doesn't say which one.

Ctrl-Space makes a lot of sense.

But "almost any IDE" - a standard? I think I've seen this only once before.

Who else remembers that the key to Expand like this was Ctrl-E in LSEdit?
