find as you type

In an older version of pl/sql developer on an older pc, I was able to type the name of a file and as I was typing, only files starting with the letters I had typed would appear in the pull down. That no longer happens. I can't seem to figure out if it is a setting of pl/sql developer or a setting on my new pc. If anyone can help with this I'd appreciate hearing from you.

It is a standard Windows file dialog, so I assume it is a Windows setting. I cannot immediately find a clue though.
