When executing a long running sql/command/test window, it would be very nice to be able to have checkboxes to select from one or more of the following options to notify you of its completion:
1. email
2. play sound
3. popup window
Each of these options would have success and failure checkboxes.
The email option should allow you to specify a semicolon separated list of emails. It should also allow you to specify a subject prefix (that you could use for your mail filters).
The email and popup window notifications would include the following info: database name/user id, success/failure status, start time, end time, name of script, error message (if applicable), number of rows processed (if applicable).
The popup window should only open/activate one window at a time (per instance of PL/SQL Developer) and allow you to scroll through the notifications. It would behave much like receiving an IM from MSN IM (and flash if you have it minimized). Double clicking on a notification would activate PL/SQL Developer to that script's window.
The play sound notification would play a different sound for success or failure.
These default notifications would be setup in the preferences window. A notifications tab would be used to enable/disable the notifications (or customize the settings for that window).
Perhaps a fourth notification option could be for receiving a brief popup (similar to how Thunderbird/Outlook notify you when you have new mail).
Even though many email clients can perform the "play sound" and "popup window" options upon receving mail, they would still be nice to have in this tool in case your email server is down or running behind.
