Docking Window

I am having a hard time getting the different windows to dock on sides other than the top. They dock to the top fine. What is the trick to this?

Dell D630 laptop.

Version Version 7.1.1.1339

Just drag the window to the left or right edge until the ghost frame snaps. Note that the mouse cursor needs to be near the edge before it snaps.
