A co-worker was surprised when he accidentally copied more than 64k lines from PLSD to Excel because a) he thought it would fail and b) in Excel he ended up with a worksheet with multiple tabs of data.

So, did PLSD do that for him, or has Excel gotten smarter? I told him it was PLSD, but that I would ask.

Both Excel and PL/SQL Developer have gotten smarter. Excel supports more than 64k rows since the xlsx format of version 2007. PL/SQL Developer supports the xlsx format since version 9.0.

:) I was so wrong, the version my co-worker was using is v8 of PLSD. Did that version have the smarts to split large output into separate tabs in Excel?
