classic menu layout - please give back (Version 12)

I vote for a full classic layout option.
It is much more easy for programmers (like me) even if ribbon is collapsed.
E.g. menus most important commands are reachable by click menu scroll down (only vertical!!!) and release mouse-click. An elegant very simple action.
For the same action with collapsed ribbon using, I click on ribbon header, search for the command (vertical and horizontal!!!) and then have to click again (not only release mouse-button).

I know, I'm old fashioned. But PLEASE give me back the loved menus.

Just give it a try for a while, you may get used to it. I know I did. For functions that you frequently use you can still:

* Assign a function key
* Add a button to the Quick Access Toolbar
* Create your own toolbar
 
I for one don't want to get used to it. I use MS Office 2010 for years. Ribbon (and the non-standard look of its windows) is awful for me.
Plus, there are other problems with the ribbon of PSD mentioned here and in the referenced (and other beta) topics.
 
I too didn't like the ribbon either, but since testing beta i got used to it. Now i like it like the other one. I guess we need to get used to these things. I had the same issue when i started using office 2016. Anyway my laptop is 4K display and this ribbon is compatible with it too.
 
Good for you. What is your preferred alternative to WinMenuSelectItem in an AutoHotkey script with PSD?
We are programmers: we like to control as much things as possible, not get used to them. It's always a good thing to have alternatives.

I agree with SaKa, you get used to it and find it's actually better. Not all programmers like to control as much as possible, just sounds like you are stuck in your ways (showing your age perhaps?). From what I can tell you have 3 options:

A. Get used to it
B. Don't update to it
C. Find a different program to use

From the amount of negativity you constantly post, maybe it's better you find a different program or create your own since you seem to know what's best.

I tried to get used to it, since Office 2010, (or 2007), and thank you, but I don't need this.
It is much easier to use a narrow, but high classic menu, where the items are listed one under the other, than the ribbon, where these items are in 3 rows, in a very wide list, and some of them are large, some of then small with text, or without text, only icon.
E.g., if you don't know that the Cut-Copy-Paste is the first three small icons, you have to go through all the items, and wait for them for the hint to appear.
 
Yes, ribbons are inconvenient with such large menu trees and yes, a good toolbar for most frequently needed commands could save us, but alas...
Now that we have lost large icons and all icon glyphs become undistinguished, toolbar is not the option too.

So, I have to stay on ver.11.

Alas, regardless of their professions, most people do their work without enthusiasm and talent. Programmers are no exception. I'm a born stubborn non-conformist, it only lightened with years.

We're on option B since PSD 7, trying C from time to time.

Some people make their own tools, vehicles, etc. Tempting, but when you have a family, you should care more about you priorities. Besides, Dell would survive, but what about Allround? ;)

AFAIK PostreSQL is lacking a fine free IDE, too, so one day I may be bold enough....

I like the new ribbon. As Marco suggests, I use function keys and the Quick Access toolbar. Also much quicker to find that rarely used icon.
