Blank Message Window !!!

Hi ,
We just purchased PL/SQL developer and when i try to login i get a blank message window
and cannot login.
I can connect using other tools(SQL Developer,SQL Plus) from the same machine.I have checked the preferences to see if it is pointing to the correct Oracle Home and also tried leaving it blank.
Any ideas What's going on.
