AllRoundAutomation's Customer Support

Hello everyone, I am looking into investing into PL/SQL Developer for our IT department after reviewing similar products out there on the market to integrate with our Oracle databases.

We came to the conclusion that for the price and features of PL/SQL Developer, this tool would be a good fit for our needs.

The problem I have right now is that I cannot get a response from their support team on some questions I have. I have emailed their sales and support addresses but have not heard boo. This concerns me as to what type of support I can expect in the future. I notice the forums are quite active which is encouraging.

Can anyone else share their experience with AllRoundAutomations in trying to get answers from them directly and overall your feelings on the product?

Thanks for your time.

I'm very satisfied with the support including the time to answer problems. Not that I have had many. Mostly suggestions for improvements. And I think they generally are very responsive to user suggestions.

I really like PL/SQL Developer. Disregarding the price, it is an excellent product. And taking the price into account makes it even better.

Well its been over 4 days from my emails to them on some questions I had, but good to hear you've had a positive experience.

Maybe you can answer one of the qeustions I have. What type of training did people go through to learn the product or what does AllRoundAutomations supply or recommend people do to learn PL/SQL Developer?

Thank you.

Bo - I didn't think the price was bad (have you priced TOAD?0

dsemeniuk - right click on everything, you'll be surprised at what you find.

Price was one of the major factors in our decision compared to TOAD, we couldn't really find why TOAD was so much higher priced. PL/SQL Developer seemed to match TOAD in most categories.

Right now I just want to feel comfortable that the tool will be supported in the long run and will have good customer support.

Plus, I'd like to know what type of trainig is available or what you recommend for new users?

Thanks.

I checked this, and your last 2 e-mails from the 14th and 19th were answered on the same day. Maybe a spam filter is blocking the replies?

Anyway, for training I can currently only suggest the User's Guide, which is written as a tutorial. Oracle SQL and PL/SQL knowledge is a prerequisite though.

We get more requests for training materials, and for 7.0 we will provide this in PowerPoint format.

Hi dsemeniuk,

Maybe a bit late, but I would say that these guys have been very supportive, answer fast and reliably. I did get caught with SPAM filters early on, but that was my boo-boo.

It is my experience that new versions of the product always provide a well balanced set of features, reflecting most of the pain-points I see going back and forth in the forums, plus usually a really nice one nobody thought of before except the Kalter boys. (Of course, not being the most balanced person in the world, we don't always get what I want. :) )

This is year 3 of using their product and I am still very happy.

Scott Mates: Please reread my statement. Or is me who doesn't express myself correctly? English is not my native language. Based purely on functionality, it's a great product. And the price makes it even better.

Regarding training: I have introduced the product to many people who did know Oracle database development from the start. A 5 minute introduction was enough to get started. And the User Manual for those who wanted more. People normally get familar with PL/SQL Developer really quickly. I cannot say that about some of the other products.

We've been using it for three or four years now (first 5 users, then 10, then 20, and now site-licensed) and have never needed training. I've found that more or less anything I know the Oracle for is either obvious or easy to figure out.

And we've never had problems with support. I've asked questions through the forums and via e-mail and have always gotten a prompt reply.(Keeping in mind that if I send an e-mail from the west coast of the US in the afternoon, it's probbaly not going to be read in The Netherlands until the next morning.)

I have been using PL/SQL Developer for about 2 years. I use it daily mostly for ad-hoc report and investigation work. I have posted several questions on the forum and have received timely answers.

One time I found something in "copy to Excel" that didn't work as it did in an earlier build. I reported that to support. They worked with me to correct the problem.

Another time I reported a problem to support with a SQL statement that ended with "end" because of a case statement. They corrected that problem the next build.
