active query builder - tree view locked

pl/sql developer 9.0.1.1613 and active query builder 1.7.9.63
connect to an oracle database
File, New, SQL Window
Tools, Query Builder (or press icon)

the "tree view" that is normally to the "right" is locked and can't be re-sized. it was "unlocked" until I picked "all objects" from the little drop down at top right. Now it won't unlock. the mouse pointer changes to the double-arrow with "parallel" lines but doesn't make anything visable.

I'm not sure emailing you a screen-shot of the window being hidden will be helpful... I can't open the "tree-view" when in query-builder.

Have tried to uninstall and upgrade.
