This describes a minor new feature request.
I am familiar with another SQL IDE called SQL Navigator (Quest). It has a very small feature that I find very useful.
This feature is a little tricky to explain. If you have a copy of the competing product you might be able to observe this yourself.
In any case - in this other tool the SQL Window has button-icons on the upper right corner of the panes within the SQL Window.
When there is a single pane within the window then there is a single icon and when there are two panes in view (query and results) then each pane has an icon.
The function these icons perform is as follows:
1) When there are two panes in view then clicking on one or the other icon will cause that pane to expand to take up all the viewing area within the SQL Window. So if you click on the icon associated with the lower results (grid) you will expand/maximize the view of the data grid. If you click on the icon associated with the upper query pane then the results are hidden and all of the SQL window is used to display the query pane.
2) When there is one pane in view then clicking the icon restores the split pane view. Note that this icon is grey/ghosted if there is no result set active within the SQL Window as of yet. You can't toggle if there is only one pane active.
Obviously this is a small feature but I find it useful. It can save a little bit of mouse dragging when you are working in the SQL Window.
You might want to consider it for a future enhancement.
