I just installed PL/SQL Developer 5.1.6.747 on top of XP sp3 and I'm receiving the "ora-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified". I can ping all of my databases within my tnsnames.ora folder, so I don't understand the reason for this error message. Please help.

I was searching your other support threads, and I believe I found the solution.
I am also using a 64bit WIndows XP with the C:\Program Files (x86) directory....
I will install the 11g client (and then SQL Developer again) and see if that fixes my "ora-12154" problem.

Running from a directory on a pre-11g client will indeed lead to ORA-12154 when trying to connect.
