I also get this freezing. I noticed even more when I have multiple instances opened, but is not a memory problem. I think is some kind of performance problem with the UI refresh. Aparently

I have been using version 15 for about a week now. It has occasionally crashed without any warning or messages. Today, it often "freezes".

The freeze occurs when I have a syntax error in my SQL and click run. It takes a minute or two before I get the Error window. The status bar says "Initializing..." the entire time. When the error window appears, the status bar says "Executing...". When I click OK on the error, it takes another minute or two before the "spinning wheel" cursor goes away so I can do anything in PL/SQL Developer. The status bar continues to say "Executing..." during this wait.

My computer is not affected. I can access anything on my other monitor and move it over the PL/SQL Developer window. Everything works and performs as usual.

Eventually, the freeze ends, and I have access again. This issue needs to be resolved ASAP as I can't wait five minutes every time I type something wrong.

Windows 11 was updated last night and that update may be related to the problem.

Version 15.0.2.2054 (32 bit)
Style: Windows 11 Dark
Windows 11 (64-bit) Build 22000

Paging file : 57,586,620 kB (37,889,656 available)
Virtual memory : 2,097,024 kB (1,442,304 available)

Preferences
Session mode: Multi
OCI Library: <none>
Use OCI7: False
Allow Multiple Connections: True

Version 15 does keep my connection alive so I had to log in today. PL/SQL Developer no longer has the "freeze" behavior. The computer has not rebooted or had any other changes made. The only difference was the need to log in.

For me performance improved and freezes seem gone after: Setting "None" for Light and Dark Style in configuration at: user interface - appearance - Color Theme mode of version 15! I like dark mode and use it for most of my tools, but performance and stability are far more important to me.

Even using the standard interface the freeze exists. I think allround should prioritize this problem, I see that this topic is well seen and commented on. I went back to version 14, the only feature I miss from version 15 is the option to pin the grid

Hello!
For me, the hint proposed above actually worked! There is a noticable difference in performance

Windows 11 was updated last night and that update may be related to the problem.

I now have similar freeze behaviour in Pl/SQL Developer, where the terms "initializing...", "executing..." are what I now get and not sure if PLS update or windows 11 update the cause. I have Windows 11 as well and usually update when updates are available. I notice the hangs mostly when changing the connection from DEV(12.2) to ACC or PRD(19c r2). Sometimes it helps when I click in the PLS application window. Often PLS crashes as well when the freeze occurs.
