What is the intention of this product?
Will it replace PL SQL Developer?
Will it become paid software?
Is PL SQL Developer going away?
How functional will the end product be? Will it include all the same features as PL SQL Developer?
What is the target audience for Plyxon? Enterprises, Hobbyists, etc.?

It is definitely faster than PL SQL Developer in many aspects but also much less functional for my enterprise uses.
Something that performs as fast as Plyxon with all the PL SQL Developer features would be amazing!

The main intention is to provide a cross-platform (Windows, macOS, Linux) Oracle PL/SQL Development tool that is fast, simplified, and light-weight. It will be available as a paid and supported license for professional use.

PL/SQL Developer is more integrated with Windows and has a much richer feature set at this time.

Both products will continue to be developed and supported.

Interested as your products have served well through the years, but I still no idea why I should use Plyxon, not working on macOS or Linux.
Any examples on which tasks would be faster / simpler than PLSQL Developer?
More details than just fast simplified and light-weight would be interesting...
Will it replace PLSQL Developer in the future?

I for one am very exited for this as we run Macs and in my opinion there is a gap on good IDE's on mac/linux in this space. We have tried several and none of them are of the caliber of pl/sql.

There are parts of the Plyxon UX I'm not happy with, but I'm *very* happy with how snappy it is.
It is a pain to go back to PL/SQL developer, due to its lack of speed, wall of gray and tendency to crash.

I do hope that the license will include both, and that you aim for Plyxon to take over completely.

Startup:
Plyxon: 1.5s to logon box, then <1s to window
PL/SQL Developer: 3s to logon box, then 4.5s to window stops redrawing itself over and over again.

Btw, I find the logon box annoying in both. I'd prefer to do all my logging on from the connections in the sidebar

For both PL/SQL Developer and Plyxon you can use the NoLogon parameter to omit the logon box during startup. For example:

"C:\Program Files\Plyxon Beta\Plyxon.exe" NoLogon

Great!
I see btw that this works a bit better for PL/SQL Developer than for Plyxon, since in the former I have Connections and Objects/Files stacked vertically
Ie, I always see my connections, and can doubleclick to log on.
In Plyxon I have to switch tab to see the connections. I'll try to dock both to the left and right and see how that feels, but ti would be nice if we could dock left-top, left-bottom as well
