Hi,
It's just me who really doesn't like the new look? Is there a small chance to have option to get back old straight-colored-clear icons, sizes of fonts and controls, which make sense, etc?
Thank you.
Best regards,
D.

There will not be any option to go back to the old look. To reduce the icon size you can however go to Preferences > User Interface > Appearance and move the "Reduce icon sizes" slider completely to the right. Now icons will be the same size as in previous versions. Restart PL/SQL Developer to make this effective.

I'm sure folks worked very hard to develop the new appearance, but I'm with czdavidm.

I find the new style too bland, especially the icons.

I agree with czdavidm, this new version leaves something to be desired in terms of icons

i agree with Stew Stryker opinion...

Imo there could a lot be done in terms of design. I dislike that there are some big vertical paddings e.g. on the tabs, which lead to fewer screen real estate. Being able to adjust those along with the icons etc. would be quite cool. Same goes for themes in general and the settings for PL/SQL Developer e.g. editor background, font colors etc. They are kinda squished together with other preferences. Would be cool to have those isolate and being able to share themes etc. pp.

+1 for returning to the old look.

I agree with all other comments. The icons are almost impossible to identify, almost impossible to understand if a button is enabled or disabled. There is no color/contrast.

I really wanted to test the beta version but I simply cannot work with this new layout.

PLEASE KEEP THE OLD BUTTONS! I will continue to work with the default color scheme if that will be the only one with the old buttons.

IMHO I don't like "There will not be any option to go back to the old look." . Please listed the community/clients when a big decision is taken.

"I really wanted to test the beta version but I simply cannot work with this new layout."
Shame, but I feel the same.
I used the previous betas (10,11, versions... etc), but I started the 15 beta only a few times.
Ugly, and unduly large UI elements frown
Reducing the icon size does not help, because the smaller icons will not be more visible (disabled or not), and the smaller icons are blurry, even worse than the normal sized icons.

To be honest, I've found something positive smile
I switched off the Single Document Interface Tabs. It solved the huge tabs problem for me.

I agree with comments.about color / contats. In previous versions, icons in tree object, or tree package had color, it was easier to read day after day.
Perhaps, youy should add a theme with colored icons.

Honestly, I have no expectations of using version 15, or indicating the use of this version. I used the beta version until mid-March, the interface of previous versions is much better in terms of buttons and icons, and arrangement of the development area.

You should have checked with the community before making such a massive change.

Marko, will you do something to make UI more usable in the next version?
You could add more color on icons, to make more contast, to indicate which one is activate...

I suspect one of two things will happen in a year:
1. people will get used to it and wish everything had blurry nondescript icons designed with the big grey crayon and giant tabs .
2. It will get better.

My guess is the second option. They've done a great job in the past. In the meantime, version 14 works fine. There aren't features that are "must have" in 15 so it can be worked out. The dark themes and stuff have potential.

I agree with most of the posters, that the new icons are a little on the bland side.
With small adjustments, much could be achieved.
If you refer to fctb's post above, you can see that the icons in e.g. the edit rbbon have some color on the icons, red on Delete Item and green for setting a bookmark.
The icons for specially the SQL window could be greatly approved in the same manner: Insert record = green, Delete record = red, Refresh= blue, Clear record = red, Export Query Results = a little blue arrow
In the Tools ribbon, the icons could be improved like this: Find Database Objects and Compare Table Data = blue looking glass (like for event monitor), Export Tables, Import Tables, ODBC Importer = blue arrow symbols (like Export User Objects)

I agree with Claus, it's the lack of color coding on the buttons that makes me have to look harder to find the right one. That's especially true when I reduce the icon size to match the menu icons in v14.

I don't mean to harp on this, but in my mind, upgrades should improving productivity, but this change does the opposite.

I think that the new design follows clean look design philosphy. It is not better, not worse, just different.
I like the new clean look since some icons in version 14 I didnt't like at all. But I agree that little color in some icons would go a long way.
For exmaple I have in toolbar: logon, logoff, run, break, commit, rollback, compile invalid - and I like the diversity.
On the other hand the icons above resut grid need some color. Please don't make big changes - small adjustments would do.
I use large icons, since my monitor is big. For small icons I think that the icons could be totaly different, not just the same with reduced size.
