SQL window -> select text -> hit Crtl-C (or Ctrl-Ins).
But the text was not transferred to the clipboard.
This happens rarely, but is very disturbing.

Even worse: select text -> hit Crtl-X.
The text is gone, but nothing is in the clipboard.

The same with: select text -> menu -> Edit -> Copy (or Cut).
Rarely too.

Sometimes if this occur I can't copy although I hit Ctrl-C several times.

Only PSD has this problem. Other programms on my PC work well.

I had this problem on my other PCs too.

That's a strange clipboard problem. We'll check it out.

I have the same problem (sometimes)!
I just thought that I had too much fun the prior day and could not hit the Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V keys properly!!!

Any answers here?
It is very annoying when copy & paste does not work.
using version Version 7.1.5.1398

I am in a terminal services session... but no other apps have this issue. I can highlight text and press ctrl-c then move the cusor and press ctrl-v and nothing is pasted. I can re-highlight and press ctrl-c multiple times like a crazy person and sometimes I can paste after that... totally randomly.

Sometimes I open notepad and paste there to test.. if I can get it there.. it will always work elsewhere..

Please advise..

We have not yet been able to reproduce this, or find any possible cause.
Posted By: mamv Re: copy / paste to clipboard problem - 08/14/09 10:33 AM
Are you using remote desktop?

If yes google for "remote desktop copy and paste not working".

I also thought the problem was from pl/sql developer, but if you disable in Remote Dekstop options -> local resources -> untick clipboard, everything works properly (but you will not have the ability to use copy/paste between remote and host computers).

I also found this: http://blog.sqlauthority.com/2008/0...-remote-desktop-copy-paste-stop-working/

but still didn't try it out.

No, I don't use remote desktop, I an sitting in front of my PC.
One year ago I had another PC: the same problem.

Only PL/SQL Developer has the problem, no other program.

There is something amiss with the way how PL/SQL Developer handles the clipboard.

This issue is very very annoying!

I don't use remote desktop either and yes I agree it is annoying.

Please fix it at the earliest.

BTW, when can we expect the beta 8 and final 8.0?

Is this maybe related to keybindings and multiple preference sets? I had problems with Control-F not opening the search interface, until I realized it only happened when I was connected to a certain database.

In other words, does the problem go away if you disconnect or connect to a different database?

I had this kind of issues some time ago. I think it was related with extended MS Office clipboard.
It started happening after some time of usage ( a couple of different copy commands - text, images from other programs etc. )

You can try to disable it and see if it helps:

Hi, any news about this?
I have the same problem since some weeks and it is very irritating. It is independent from the keyboard, the computer and the database connection. It occurs only in PL/SQL Developer (7.1.5.1398). All my other applications accept the CTRL-C key combination properly. It seems not to be a timing problem. It even occurs if I hold the two keys pressed for two seconds or longer. It is impossible to predict if the data is in the clipboard or not. "Copy" from the editor's context menu works without any problem (but I do not intend to learn this method).

You can try this:

Start an Office Application, e.g. Excel.
Menu -> Edit -> Office Clipboard
In the window right bottom -> options -> make all check marks off

I did this a couple of weeks ago and this problem on my PC is gone.
Perhaps this problem will occur again. We'll see...

The best way is however when the developers will fix this issue.

We're having this issue on 1 of the PCs, usually I have to do the copy twice, and then it'll go through, my colleague doesn't have this issue on his PC at all and the installation comes from the same source.

On the PC I'm facing this issue, I also have the problem that the [home] and [end] button on the keyboard do not work in the SQL editor window. Maybe it is related ?

I've the same problem. I'm using Windows 7 RC1 and RTM and PLSQL 7.1.4 and 8.0 beta.
I've done many tries.
I've this problem when I paste (CTRL+V) a numeric string (e.g. 2123131) in a field to edit after click on TABLE > EDIT DATA or when I paste a numeric string in a field of TEST PROCEDURE/FUNCTION.

Problem persists in PLD 8 Beta 3.
The following has not seemed to have helped:
[quote]Start an Office Application, e.g. Excel.
Menu -> Edit -> Office Clipboard
In the window right bottom -> options -> make all check marks off

Perhaps you have some other clipboard assistant installed that is making problems ?

It's been a long time since I had this kind of issues and it's all gone since I am not using MS Office extended clipboard anymore.
Perhaps you could try to modify registry, like I mentioned in one of my previous posts.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/207438/EN-US/
I know it is supposed to be for Office 2000, but I read here that it works on 2003 also.

Perhaps it works also with MS Office 2007, you only need to modify the right key:

For Office 2003:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\General

For Office 2007:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\General

I guess you need to restart the machine after modification for the change to take effect.

One other thing that got my attention while browsing the web is running Excel in Safe mode and thus avoiding some problems with clipboard. See here on how to do it.

Windows Interrupts and PL/SQL Developer.

I monitor interrupts on my PC with %SystemRoot%\system32\perfmon.msc.
A ground noise is about 150-180 interrupts/s.
If any program is active then the interrupts increases perhaps a factor of one and a half or two.
If I start PL/SQL Developer then the interrupts increases very strong up to 1100-1200 interrupts/s for all the time the program goes.
But it is not always this case. Sometimes it does not rise.

If I start 2 or 3 instances of PL/SQL Developer (dev, test, prod) then the interrupts rises almost always.

I can't find out wich sort of interrupts this is.

Perhaps it has something to do with teh copy/paste Problem?
Why does the interrupts rise?

Hello everyone,

we are using PL/SQL Developer 8.0.4, too and have a similar issue.

We have Windows 7 SP1 host systems and Windows Server 2008 R2 Citrix Server. PL/SQL Developer is running in both environments (dev and prod)!
The Citrix Receiver is Up-To-Date (3.1).

When trying to copy from the Citrix Session to the Host Windows 7 System it needs about 3-5 Sec that the copied text from the SQL Developer can be pasted into the host system! This occures with a XP Host-System, too. We try to paste it by pressing CTRL+V few times but nothing happens.. after 3-5 sec we have to press CTRL+V again and then its pasting the correct text.

Resetting the accelerators did not work.
Disabling the Office 2010 clipboard options (in Word or Excel) also not worked.

Is there any Solution for this Problem known?

Edit: We found out something new -> When trying to copy from Citrix PL/SQL Developer to Host PL/SQL Developer we get a Error message saying "Cannot open clipboard"

I use PL/SQL Developer 9.02.1621 which is packaged as a thinapp running in vmware view XP desktop. In office, I use a WYSE terminal to connect to the XP desktop and the clipboard works fine. However, I sometimes work at home using VMWare View client which is a kind of RDP, and the clipboard fails at most of the time (randomly).

I also find that the PL/SQL Developer's "Special Copy" does work. Therefore I define another "Special Copy" to allow me copy the original text and it works. But the drawback is that it always add an extra new line when pasting.

There must be some difference between normal copy and "Special Copy"!??

I made some further test:

Restart rdpclip.exe process - does not help.

kill the rdpclip.exe process - fixes the problem, however, Windows loses the remote clipboard functionality.
Posted By: comdirect Re: copy / paste to clipboard problem - 02/08/12 07:14 AM
@FQF:
that does not help because we dont have the rdpclip.exe as a process.
What do you mean with "special copy"? could you explain please?

@Marco:
anything new?

See menu: "Edit" | "Special Copy" | ...

You may define your own format of "Special Copy", just google it.

I got the same problem and I found a solution.

Just uninstall the keyboard driver and then restart the computer, following these steps:

Windows XP:
1. Right click on My Computer
2. Click on Properties
3. Click on tab Hardware
4. Open the Device Manager
5. Open the Keyboards list
6. Right click on the keyboard and then Uninstall it
7. Restart your computer

Windows Vista / 7:
1. Right click on My Computer
2. Click on Properties
3. Open the Device Manager (top left)
4. Open the Keyboards list
5. Right click on the keyboard and then Uninstall it
6. Restart your computer

I had similar problems on Windows 7: it is an issue with the PS2 to USB converter. When I changed my old PS2 keyboard with the new one, the problem was gone...
