I am currently using Pl/Sql Developer on Window XP for Oracle 11g. Have been using it for the past 3 years.
Our office will be moving to WINDOWS 7 within the next few months but I already have on machine in the new format. Supposedly we can only use 64bit so I have been told.
Is this newest version or next version going to be 64bit compatible. Or does it matter and the 32bit Oracle ODAC can be used.
thanks
You will need to install a 32 Bit Oracle11g Client. PL/SQL Developer is a 32 Bit application, so it cannot interface with a 64 Bit Oracle Client.
The 32 Bit Oracle Client can communicate with a 64 Bit Server, even on the same machine if necessary. The 32 Bit client can coexist with a 64 Bit Oracle installation when installed in separate Oracle Home directories.
yes PL/SQL Developer is a 32 Bit application ...
we were wondering whether a 64bit version of the application was in development
Thanks
Yes, we are working on that at the moment.
When is the 64bit version excpected to be released?
We don't have a date yet.
Ok, it's been over 2 years now. Do you have a date yet?
We are working on version 11 and a 64 bit version of version 11. Both will be available this year.
Hi Marco,
I am still interested in the 64-bit version of the software. It was supposed to be released in 2014. Almost halfway through 2015 now. Any progress you can share regarding this?
Thanks,
Glen
We are working on a 64 bit version of PL/SQL Developer 11.0. It will be available later this year.
