We will have scheduled a public beta version for this quarter.

That will be revealed at that time
Will my still existing and very bothering Window List sort order problem (

finally be fixed then?

Tadaa, only 29 days left
Please, don't forget about promises to make version 9 multi-db and multi-schemas connection enable. To work like toad, in one copy of program with many databases and many schemas in it.
Thank You very much

Maybe it's a bit late for this proposal, but i think the greatest weakness of PLSQLDeveloper is it's behaviour with Program code
and Debugging at the moment.
For Example:
- There is no paramter Info (popup) when you write a Function/Procedure
- Simple refactoring like rename variabels does only work on the definition
- The package navigator does nearly only work, when the code is compilable
- There is no debugging support of types and records
A agree to all requests.
I think that the name PL/SQL Developer would imply that the main focus of the program should be to faccilitate and support developing and debugging of PL/SQL code.
Simple refactoring like rename variabels does only work on the definition
Please also refer to the topics:
Enhancement request refactoring: renaming record fields Refactoring .... Rename Item for Type does not work. Bug: Refactoring - Rename item does not work when prefixed with a minus Bug?: refactoring cursor variables
The package navigator does nearly only work, when the code is compilable
I agree, this as quite a pain in the a..
I have earlier suggested to the development team, that the line number is stored internally when a method/variable etc. is shown in the code content pane, and when the parser is unable to parse the code, the navigation should go to the stored line number. In this way, the cursor would always end somewhere near the code in question.
13 days to go!

If so, I hope there'll be an option to disable this feature
Yeah, so do I.

Of course, so many men so many opinions
But this feature, i think, will attract attention of many TOAD users. For lower price

I think this behavior might be messy/dangerous, so I'd rather avoid it and keep the "lower price", along with great support, performance, features, and so on.
One week to go!

What messy? And technically, what dangerous it might be?
PL/SQL developer uses not only developers, but DBA's, like me.
And i like very much this program, but, as DBA, a have to monitor and operate not only one DB, but several. And for me it isn't very comfortable to have >10 copies of program and switch between them.
And my friends DBA's don't like TOAD, but uses it only because this option.
But if it so dangerous, it will be perfect, to have a choice to make this option enable/disable
There is no paramter Info (popup) when you write a Function/Procedure
What is "parameter info (popup)"? Just wondering what you mean...
The thing that sometimes catches me out on the Program window is if you miss out "or replace" and press execute, it reports success but actually does nothing.

Oh, this statement was really unclear.
What i'm trying to say was: If you call a procedure in PLSQL, you only get a popup info which parameter you need, if the procedure is public declarated. But often there are procedures declarated private, or even only implemented without declaration. For this procedures you everytime have to knwow which parameters you need.
"First quarter"'s got one day left...
Are we there yet?
Just finishing up some lose ends, documentation and website...
Do these lose ends have a due date?
Any Updates/News for the plsqldoc Plugin?
We need >15h to generate the html files of all our packages.
It works! Thats nice :-) but some performance fixes would be great.

And one wish to be included in version 9, if it possible:
History in command window appears by Up and Dows arrows. But it appears only by one row. And i want it appears by SQL block with multi row. Like when i type "ed" and appears History Window.
Hello ;
I hope version 9 includes better Version Management Support;
Quest SQL Navigator is the best software for this option. But only this option is better than PL SQL Developer. And therefore i can not offer using
PLSQL Developer at my company
Best Regards...
@belicin:
Just out of interest, what is Version Management Support and how is SQL Nav better? I find Subversion with TortoiseSVN makes this whole issue go away, but perhaps I'm missing something.
@ras:
SQL windows have more history options. Why do you need that in a Command window? Just curious. I don't find much use for the Command window personally.

desc table
show parameter
set long
and e.t.c...DBA's work with sqlplus and scripts. But sqlplus haven't Code Assisnent, auto width lines, color syntax and other things like command window in PL/SQL Developer ...
I'd appreciate if PSD offered a way to quickly open a windows explorer folder window containing the current PSD window file.
Maybe you could put that function in the window list right-mouse actions?
@Bernhard
You can do this using Tools > Configure Tools > New:
Description: Open containing folder
Type: External
Executable/Script: #dir
Interesting, though it didn't show the full path. Only DOS names were displayed (Win XP):
C:\DOCUME~1\USERNAME\Desktop\DOCSAB~1\D-1186~1
Because you have spaces in the directory name (documents and settings), the short directory name is displayed.
use "#dir" , instead of #dir
Thank you, William. Very useful indeed
vlevi, how do you know that? That's not in the documentation, is it? I couldn't find it at least.
That should be part of the documentation in any case and be added for v9.
Thx, guys! It works like a charm!
I have just tried it, and worked. I remembered, that the Windows shortcuts does not works, if there is a space in the command line, and you have to put the command between "" characters. For example, c:\program files will fail, but "c:\program files" works. Or, if you do not want to use "", you have to write c:\progra~1 into the windows shortcut.
Yeah, now that you mention, it does make sense. But I'd never guess.
Hopefully this week...
Well, not last week, but hopefully this week.
One day left?
I hope there will be a print preview functionality in v9.
How many loose ends are left now before v9 comes out in Beta?
Will it be brought to us by the Easter Bunny? ;-)
It looks like the Easter Bunny is too fast.
It's almost one month from the 1st quarter now. Any news? Pleeeeeeeeease????
I'm sure due to the great Easter weather the Easter Bunny took it easy too and was just laying in the sun like everyone else ;-)
Sorry for the delay. We're going for May 1st now.
That's a Sunday? Are you guys really working this hard, including weekends?
Kind regards,
Roeland
It's Labour Day after all...
Do we get a Beta Version before release??
I'm really curious!!! ;-)
> Sorry for the delay. We're going for May 1st now.
Marco - which May 1st - 2011 or 2012 :-)))))
/Karl
Hmm, &DUE_DATE < CURRENT_DATE and still no new version as far as I can see. Guess &DUE_DATE is rather date literal 2012-05-01 then ;-)
Not so much &DUE_DATE. More like &ESTIMATED_DATE.
Allround is way better at making good software than at making estimates. So I'm not worried.
It is with great anticipation that we wait
Having made sure that our license fee is paid
Tormented minds can find no peace
While waiting for the new release
How soon can we stop resting
And start the beta-testing...
haha... even poems coming out from the wait... nice piece of "code" Marco =)
Thats a good one Marco (van der Linden).
Named SQL tabs! Great!!!
XLSX support!
Virtual Columns ........ I can see lots of goodies!!
Somebody hacked the Page :-)
Great first Impressions!!
:-)
/Karl
Oh no :-(
They hid the pictures :-/
But this means we are coming closer!
Just like christmas, found another clue that something big is about to happen:
