Am using PL/SQL developer under wine and its almost perfect. Thing is a get a red X as the first entry under each node in the object browser (left hand panel). Anyone know how to fix this.

I have the same problem.
Additionally "help" and "plsqldoc-plugin" don't work,
"help" is saying "HTML rendering is currently disabled". The useless "help" window cannot be closed.
"plsqldoc" only shows an empty window.

The only other thing that I have found that does not work is the Brows table option, witch I can live with. Its a shame that the allroundautomation don't seem to be interested in working with the wine community. Ime running this on a 800 GHZ box with 256MB. Quite impressive really.

I don't think we should blame allroundautomations for not working with the wine community. The possible support implications could be huge in terms of figuring out "what is a plsd issue, wine issue, oracle issue etc".

Besides that i have found another piece which is not working with wine: Find & Replace.
I think that would be essential for a production environment. I'll stick to VMWARE/XP for the production environment but keep an eye on on the wine compatibility from time to time.

I installed a recently available wine 0.9.41 (for my opensuse box), now it works!

...but there's a new bug "SubClassUnicodeControl.Control is not Unicode" appearing when one wants to view/edit procedure/package code. Therewith you can forget it. Maybe 0.9.42...

Maybe you can work around that by turning off Unicode in PL/SQL Developer? (Preferences>Options>Unicode enabled)

For me PLSD stopped working after the installation of wine 0.9.41. (openSuse 10.2,PLSD 7.1.1.1351). I don't have the time to investigate it, but maybe wine 0.9.42 will resolve this.
With wine 0.9.40 it was at least working...
