Testing trail version 7.1.4.1390, I noticed the following warning:
"Database character set and client character set are different"
According to my understanding, this is quite normal and more rule than exception. Changing the client characterset could have gross consequences. To make a long story short, i will refer to Note:179133.1 on Metalink. A quote from this document:
"Setting the NLS_LANG to the characterset of the database MAY be correct
but IS NOT ALWAYS correct. Please DO NOT assume that NLS_LANG needs to be
ALWAYS the same as the database characterset. THIS IS NOT TRUE."
