VCS - Slow response time

I currently have the VCS plug-in and am using VSS 6.0d. I have been able to get the plug in to work with VSS. Check-out is fine; but when I try to check an object IN, the "SourceSafe Command Status" window along with a messege indicating it is checking in the file comes up. This stays on the screen for 5,10, sometimes 15minutes before I get another screen that comes up asking me if I want to pin the changes. All of the events that happen : Saving, and verification of pinning code is right, but I don't understand why there is a 5-15min lag time. Any ideas?

Not really. Is there any CPU, disk or network activity going on during these 5-15 minutes?
