V8 help file unusable...

Hi Folks

I have v8 installed (8.0.0.1480).

When I run the help file plsqldev.chm, the contents and index lists are visible but clicking on anything in contents or index list produces message "The page cannot be displayed" in the view window.

Am I missing something?

Best regards

Billy

Is PL/SQL Developer installed on a network share? I have the same problem with another program (Password Safe), and I figured it's just a limitation of chm files.

This site appears to have more answers.

Thanks Worker, that certainly seems to cover it - yes the application is installed on a network share. The chm file works fine if it's run from my local hard disk.

Good old Microsoft!

Best regards

Same problem (and version). I can't see anything wrong with C:\Program Files\PLSQL Developer\plsqldev.chm - I can open it if I double click on it in Windows Explorer. At one point I did have PL/SQL Dev installed on a network drive so I'm wondering if it's still looking in the old location somehow, though I don't see anything obvious in the .ini or .prefs files or the registry.

It may be that Windows memorizes the location of help files. Does the file still exist on the file server?

Aha, got it. My Windows Start Menu shortcut used "\\Ldnxxxx\c$\Program Files\..." instead of "C:\Program Files\..." (where Ldnxxxx is the network name of my PC), so I guess it was treating my hard drive as a network share. Not sure how that happened or when. Anyway the problem went away when I changed it to "C:\Program Files\PLSQL Developer\plsqldev.exe".

hi,

I'm having the same problem.
My short cuts are to the shared drive, but i can't see the help and niether anyone that works with the shared installation.

What do I need to do ?
