User identified externally

Login dialog on 6x does not allow externally identified users to log in.

I don't personally use this type of account so didn't notice until some of our users who do pointed it out

Same here. I wanted to login to a database with a OP$ account, but it didn't work.

I have logged in fine using my external account. The first time I tried it failed. I then tried again and it worked fine.

It seems to work okay for me. How exactly do you log on?

Typically with a '/' in username and password field empty.

It returns a dialog with ORA-01005: null password given; login denied

This same 'syntax' works with sqlplus

In PLSD, leave username empty.

Okay, we'll fix the / issue. One would expect that this works as well.

Some in our office have the 5.1 version of PS/SQL Developer and can connect to our development tables fine with an external id '/'. Those that have the 6x version of the software cannot. They can connect to Oracle tables fine. However, going through PS/SQL Developer they have a problem. Is there something to set or unset in their systems?

What exactly goes wrong? Are you using 6.0.5?
