Unpinned Browser/Object Windows Slide extremely slowly

I keep my Templates, Object Browser, etc. windows unpinned to maximize working area. But when I hover over them to slide them out, I feel like I'm back in the 1200 BAUD modem days, watching text get typed on the screen slower than I can read it. I want to claw my eyes out.

In my performance settings in Windows itself, I have all animations disabled, including animations inside applications, slide controls into view, etc. No fading, sliding, or animations anywhere. But PL/SQL Developer doesn't seem to respect these settings, and I can't find an internal option that disables this animation.

To be fair, this issue is made worse by what seems to be a Windows problem, one that I can't find a resolution for. The other way it manifests itself is in using ctrl+tab to switch windows... if I have enough tabs open, and windows has been put to sleep or hibernate, trying to flip between sql windows is like watching a deck of cards being shuffled... the sql windows flicker visibly for several seconds as PL/SQL Developer flips through them to find the next tab (it's an issue in both directions, ctrl+tab and ctrl+shift+tab.

But even when I'm starting from a fresh boot, the sliding menus is still an issue. What can I set to just have these popouts appear and disappear without sliding?

I cannot immediately reproduce this. I tried the following:
  • Unpin the Object Browser.
  • Hover to slide it open
  • Type in the "Search text" field
The typing response is immediate.

Does this scenario reproduce the issue for you?

I'm not having the slow slide effect but I'd also like to have an option to turn off the sliding "animation" (or have the Developer respect the Windows options in this regard) and have the window to simply appear.

Hi Marco, thanks for looking at this. Once it's open, it's fine. I can type in the search field, expand nodes, no problem... it's waiting for it to slide open that's the issue. It takes nearly three seconds to slide open when I hover over it, which might not seem long, but for as many times as I slide these open in a session, it's unbearable. And it's very easy to accidentally hover over a tab, meaning I have to wait for it to slide open so it can slide closed... I really am clawing my eyes out. If I had some kind of screen cam software, I would take a video.

I should mention that the problem is greatly reduced (both the slider-outs and the ctrl+tab window switch) when the window isn't maximized - even if it's been expanded to be as large as the screen. But even then, the sliding is annoying... I just want the windows to respect the OS settings.
