I am using the modified file you sent to restrict Query Reporter (V 3.1.0.266) to "run-only" mode. As expected, I am unable to edit the SQL statement, and the Save and Save As buttons are not active.
I discovered, though, that I can still modify the report layout or connection Options for a given report. When I do so, the Save and Save As buttons are not activated, giving the impression that it is not possible to save my new layout, but when I exit QR, or attempt to load a new report, I am prompted to save my changes, and the save is successful!
So I can't modify the query - that's good. And I can modify the layout and/or the connection options - I think that is OK too, since the author has the option of locking the report if they wish. But if QR is deliberately going to allow those changes, the Save and Save As functions should be enabled, should they not.
I guess what I am saying in the end is that only edits to the SQL (and access to the Report Builder) should be disabled in the run-only version, not the ability to save changes to layout or connection options.
