Returning an xmltype appears to cause problems

When issuing the following query from within a SQL window, the "Initializing..." message appears for a long time, followed by an alert window.

The query is:
select xmltype('b value') from dual;

The message box error is:
ORA-12154: TNS could not resolve service name.

I was previously connected and working with the database and did not receive the TNS error. I'm running against and Oracle 11.1 database and am working on XML DB tasks.

Thanks. To obtain some more diagnostic information, can you modify the shortcut and add the debugsql parameter? For example:

"C:\Program Files\PLSQL Developer\plsqldev.exe" debugsql

Reproduce the problem and send me the debug.txt file that is generated in the PL/SQL Developer directory.
