Request: keyboard shortcut to start block marking

Alt + dragging the mouse will begin marking text in block mode.

I would like to request a keyboard shortcut to start block marking.

E.g.:
Shift + arrow keys will begin "normal" line marking.
Alt+Shift + arrow keys will begin block marking.
