PL/SQL developer under Linux ?

Hello,

I'm running PL/SQL dev under Linux (with wine) for quite a long time.

That's globally fine, but a native Linux binary would be much better.

Does your company now has plans to support the Linux workstations ?

Thanks
Olav

Just out of curiosity, did you have to do anything special to get PL/SQL Developer running with Wine?

I tried a while back, and was getting (font-related?) errors when I tried to do pretty much anything.

I installed PL/SQL dev inside a basic "winetools" environment (http://www.von-thadden.de/Joachim/WineTools/).
Thus, I downloaded a few fonts before doing the actual install. (this is explained and is standard in WineTools).

Then the install went smoothly.

At first launch you have to uncheck the box in "Preferences"=>"Appearance"=>"Faded disabled colors" and restart PL/SQL dev.

Finally there are a few issues which makes the experience a bit worse than on native Windows (such as copy/paste not working everywhere) but it is nevertheless very usable.

Wow, it is running under Linux :)
Now, I need to install instant client and see if it connects to my databases :)

BTW, I'm running Ubuntu Linux in VMWare player on Windows XP Laptop. Please don't ask me why :)

what a pity - the plsqq is the last thing that holds me from switching completely to Linux...

Aren't you, guys, developing it in Delphi ? If so, should not it be relatively easy to compile for linux... ? I know it's easier to say than to do :) , but why not give it a shoot :) ? Please :)

Hi Babo are not any free WINX-Emulators outside for LINUX or VMWARE - then you could run PL/SQL-Developer even on Linux
