Oracle Monitor

Hello

I am using Oracle Monitor, even for production builds that go to customers although, in the DOA manuals, I found that including the OracleMonitor leads to some performance loss.
The reason is that, often, it is very handy to be able to detect what statement goes wrong, at a customers site without having to make new builds (that may not produce the errors).

What I want to know is whether this performance loss is neglectable, minor, moderate or worse?

Also, I wonder whether there is a parameter, like an environment variable, which you can set to switch this monitoring off when not needed (especially when the performance loss would turn out to be more than minor).

Thanks in advance

Frank

The performance loss is probably negligible, unless your application is very performance critical, has a very fast connection to the database server, and generates lots and lots of database activities. Even in that case the performance loss will be minor.
