Number of Characters Selected in Status Bar

I would like to see in the status bar the number of characters selected. This would greatly help in making sure that my variables/column/tables names are within the 30 character limit.

Notepad++ does this and is real helpful.http://notepad-plus-plus.org/

Yes, I agree, nice idea.

Or, have an option to have PLD mark naming (e.g. red text colour) that exceeds the 30 character limit (like in the SQL window, when you enter something that is too large to fit in a character field, for instance VARCHAR2(10) or similar)
