Internal Diff Viewer comments

I love how fast this is vs calling an external program.

But I'm not as thrilled with some of the implementation:

  • Toggled settings in the Viewer are not saved to the Config file (e.g. "Ignore case"), so the setting reverts the next time you run the viewer.
  • Similarly, changing a Diff Viewer setting in the Config window doesn't apply to the current Diff Viewer window.
  • Can we change the keys defined to move between differences from Ctrl-Down/Up? I don't see that option in Preferences->Key Configuration.
  • If you have two differences on consecutive lines, where one diff is a new line, the display seem different than if you just had one difference.

Note how it shifts the PROCEDURE line up when Ignore-Case is turned on.

I'm really on the fence if I'll switch to the Internal Diff Viewer once V14 is released, as I really like the external tool we use, Beyond Compare. You've done a nice job, but BC has more power (including the ability to edit either side of the diff and copy differences from one side to the other).

We have not yet been able to reproduce this. Can you let me know if you are using Beta 1 or Beta 2? If you are using Beta 1, can you update to Beta 2 and try again?

Marco,

I'm running beta 2 (plsqldev1400x64b02.msi) that I installed yesterday.

On the first screenshot (Ignore-Case Off), you can see that CONTROL_ID_IN is a different case between the two version, right?

Good luck!

When the internal diff viewer opens, it defaults to displaying the files "split vertically". I have my monitors set up in portrait/tall mode, so I can't see more than 100 characters wide (given my font size).

1) Could you please add a setting to Preferences so we can choose which layout split we prefer (Vertical vs Horizontal)?

2) Speaking of font size, if I press my key combination to shrink/grow the font size, it only changes the upper/left pane. Could it please affect both panes?

Thanks!

Stew
