Getting (Not Logged on)

as an admin user -- i can connect to oracle db using plsql devloper....as a normal user -- I keep getting the error (not logged on)... can anyone help... I have tried the tools preferences -- pointing to correct oracle home... I have tried to right click on plsqldev.exe and run as admin...still always says Not logged on

My guess is that you are using an Oracle 10g Client or earlier on Windows 7 or later, which is not compatible. You will need to install an Oracle 11g or 12c Client to resolve this.

I have downloaded the oracle xe 11.2 windows 8.
trying to connect through vpn to oracle.

I always get not logged on.

What can I do?

Can you let me know the exact error message?

It is just a empty box with a "Ok" button and a message on the blue top bar "(Not logged on) - PL/SQL Developer"

I just PM you with the details from the system info, just in case you need it.
I am using VPN to connect to the client side and using one of the instances from them.
