Freeze on Large PKG with open string

We have some large packages that experiences delays during editing. This happens when you attempt to type a string literal, if you do not close the string immediately the application hangs as it seems to be parsing and re-formatting of the package contents and font colors.

Is there any settings that will delay this action or perhaps control when it occurs?

Also, there should be a warning when you are trying to open more then two packages in the Open Packages dialog, I accidently selected 20 files and it froze
