First time Connection setup

I am trying to evaluate the query reporter tools for some of our end-users. We want to access our Oracle e-business suite sytem (located on a remote host) to write simple ad-hoc reports. I presume this tool can be installed on windows PCs. I can see that QR login asks for database name as one of the connection parameters. I don't know where the tool expects to find connection details of this database from. Does it mean the tool expects a client Oracle Home or tnsnames file etc.(i am not very familiar with that now)

I am told by our hosting team that the following details can be given to users for SQL query acccess. 1. Host ip address 2. Host Port number 3. Database user id 4. Password.

Can query reporter connect using these given details?. If this information is already available on the website, please direct me there. I was unable to find anything with this detail on the site.

Thanks in advance
Joey

You will need to install an Oracle Client on the PC where you want to use the Query Reporter. The Oracle Client can be configured for any naming resolution (tnsnames, name server, ezconnect).
