Executing a report directly to Excel the first time

For a long running query it is useful to just start out exporting into Excel rather than having to run the query first in order to get the export to excel button enabled, and then running a 2nd time to do the export.

Is there a way to do this or is this a feature that can be looked at in the future?

This can only be accomplished from the command-line:

QueryReporter.exe hide userid=scott/tiger exec="dept.rep" excel quit

This starts a (hidden) Query Reporter, connects as scott, executes the dept report, starts excel with the results, and quits.
