i installed Oracle9i and pl/sql developer (5.03.527 registered) - all was right.
Next i removed Oracle9i and installed Oracle8
PL/SQL Developer now doesn't work.
I reinstalled with no success
Here is an error:
1)i start p/s developer
2)i insert user/password/sid and click OK
3)oci.dll /can't find such module (it's localized message)

oci.dll exists in orahome/bin.
I tried to set option from preference (set orahome, force oci7/8 - didn't help - the same error)
I didn't set another oci library beacause i can't find defferent from oci.dll

In about window there is:
OCI: Version 8.2
DLL: C:\OraHome1\bin\oci.dll

Any help?

The Primary Oracle Home on your PC seems to be incomplete after these install/uninstall operations. If you start the Oracle Home Selector (a standard Oracle utility), you can probably select the correct (complete) Primary Oracle Home.

i used the same orahome in both installations, so Oracle Home Selector doesn't start saying there is only one primary orahome.
Also setting orahome manually in preferences doesn't help. Any ideas?

i reinstalled everything and now it works.
I had problems deleting oci.dll - some process didn't allow me to delete it - maybe it doesn't allow to use it too by PSD. Deleting from command line had helped

I had previously exactly same problem. The problem was solved when Oracle bin directory was added into path.

when installing over the top of another installation, the oui spits up an error at some dll's because they are locked. you can open explorer and rename them to oci.dll.old or something like that and hit the retry button. that works for me everytime.
