Corporate policy says that users cannot install compiled code (dlls, exe, etc). If LUA (or something like it) were part of PLSD then 'plug-ins' could be written and used as plain text scripts.

because "Corporate policy says that users cannot install compiled code (dlls, exe, etc)" - the last time I tried installing compiled code the IT folks were over in less than an hour, took my PC and re-imaged it (it took them a week to complete the scans and such, then it took me almost as long to recover all my lost work).
